Tuesday Tunes is Back...For A Brief Stint

I finally have a break from the craziness of school, work and life so I decided to turn back to my blog for the next three weeks.  You may only be seeing some tunes, but what else do you need?!  This summer has been filled with fun and LOTS of music.  From Governors Ball to JT/JAY Z to Lollapalooza last weekend - the hits just keep on coming.  Here are some of my recent favorites:

Pompeii by Bastille (I know it's semi-old, sorry not sorry)

Burn by Ellie Goulding

Out of My League by Fitz and the Tantrums

Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth ft. Emeli Sande

Wildfire by John Mayer

If you're in the mood to dance:

SummerMash 2013 by DJ Earworm

Can't Believe It by Flo Rida ft. Pitbull

Payback by Steve Angello, Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman

LASTLY, as homage to my home girl on her birthday, a song that makes me always think of her {and I bet 'The Hills' for the rest of you}... HAPPY BDAY MEL!

Tuesday Tunes

This could be the most random mix of music I've ever posted by hope y'all enjoy! Happy Tuesday :)

1) It's Never Over by Avan Lava - Shay and I went to this concert at Music Hall of Williamsburg after seeing Swedish House Mafia on Saturday night.  I had no idea what to expect but was blown away, it was the best dance party I've had since Walk the Moon, also at MHW.  I think it's a sign we need to venture to the BK more.

2) Let Her Go by The Passenger

3) Diamonds by Ben Howard

4) Back to Love by DJ Pauly D ft. Jay Sean (don't make fun, it's actually really good!)

5) Alive by Krewella

Tuesday Tunes 2013 Debut: Reach for the Sky, Keep Your Eye on the Prize

Happy 2013 everyone!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and rang in the new year with some champy and a smile.  I'll do a new years resolution post soon but, in the meantime, I didn't want to leave you without Tuesday Tunes for a moment longer.  All of these songs make me smile in such a big way.  Whether its from the message, the music video, the beat {pop, electric, or man-made}, or because it's by my favorite person ever, they are perfect for launching into a new year with a fresh start!

  • Sunshine by Matisyahu

  • Locked Out of Love by Bruno Mars

  • Trojans by Atlas Genius (Lenno Remix)

  • I Knew You Were Trouble by Walk Off the Earth

  • I Could be the One by Avicii (ft. Nicky Romero) Nope not stopping with Avicii in 2013. In fact, he's spending January and February producing new tracks AND coming out with an album.  It may just be getting worse {Sorry to anyone I promised I'd stop obsessing to *cough* AGK}.

Tuesday Tunes

I hope everyone had a nice Columbus Day!  It's another rainy Tuesday here in NYC but it can't put a damper on my excitement for Charleston this weekend.  I get to see one of my first friends at IU get hitched, and hopefully there will be an appearance by Baby Gitter ;)  In the meantime, here's some music to get you through the day.  Also, all of you should go see Perks of Being a Wallflower.  Besides having a killer soundtrack, it relayed a beautiful message about self acceptance and the power of friendship.

New Order by Temptation

On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons (This was a hard choice because the entire album is amazing.  For the full album you can listen here)

Give Me Love by Ed Sheeran

Madness by Muse

I Need Your Love by Ellie Goulding (ft. Calvin Harris)

Tuesday Tunes: I Love Ameri-cuh and NYC

It's hard to believe that the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, a field in Pennsylvania and countless Americans were forever changed eleven years ago today.  I remember it like it was yesterday, and I never could have imagined that I would be living in this great city six years later. These songs always remind me of how proud I am to be a New Yorker, to be an American and of that day.  Also, there was a touching article yesterday in Forbes magazine, Fifty Important Lessons New York Taught Me,  that can be applied to just about anyone, click here to read.

America by Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel

New York State of Mind by Billy Joel

Fire & Rain by James Taylor

Overcome by LIVE (I listened to this on repeat for weeks after 9/11/01, warning its a tearjerker)

Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys and Jay-Z (obvi)

I'm Proud to be an American by Toby Keith

There's pretty much only been one song on my playlist for the past week.  If you've been around me, you know which one it is since if I'm not listening to it, I'm humming it.  I did, however, add a few extras so as not to bore everyone :) Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Tunes

Regular blogging will commence tomorrow.  In the meantime, here are my jams this week.  The inspiration has been drawn from the passing of Levon Helm.  Thus, all songs are in some way tied to the word "Band" (since he was part of The Band, get it?).  Enjoy and Happy Tuesday!

1) The Weight by The BAND

2) You Lie by The BAND Perry

3) Rock and Roll BAND by Boston

4) Ants Marching by Dave Matthews BAND

5) What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction (Ultimate boy BAND)

Tuesday Tunes

This week's inspiration for Tuesday Tunes comes from the recent discovery that, after much speculation over the last 15 years, Tupac is still alive! Don't alert your local media just yet, he was brought back to life only as a hologram this weekend at Coachella to perform with headliners Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog.  Its one of the craziest things I've seen in awhile and has been added to my list of why modern technology is creepy, joining the ranks of Friend Finder and AdWorks.  Here are some other throwback tunes that have resurfaced recently:

1) Tupac Hologram Performance at Coachella 2012

2) Hold On by Wilson Phillips (featured in Bridesmaids)

3) Step by Step by Whitney Houston (for obvious reasons)

4) Let's Hear it for the Boy by Deniece Williams (featured in Footloose remake)

5) My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion (Leo in 3D, yes please)

Bonus Tracks:  My jaw dropped at a recent commercial I saw for Now That's What I Call Music #41.  I remember bopping to the first one with Meryl and Drew all through middle school.  The next two tracks are a tribute to NOW #1 and NOW #5, which I played on repeat for all of 2000. I apologize in advance for the last one, my music taste wasn't quite as sophisticated as it is now but the video is hysterical.  I was  tempted to post Barbie Girl by Aqua for Bonus Track #1 but I figured one annoying song was sufficient enough.  You're welcome.

1) Together Again by Janet Jackson

2) Aaron's House (Come Get It) by Aaron Carter
